A gamified learning system based on the resolution of everyday cases. An opportunity to learn among professionals, as it allows them to play individually and in teams.

Problem to be solved

The learning experiences of the medical community usually have a very traditional component in which a speaker explains the case to a group of listeners. This is generally followed by a discussion that allows participants to clarify doubts about the case in question.

Solution

In contrast, we aim to stimulate learning and make it a challenge for the medical community. The Clinical Case Competitions are divided into different sessions, which are organised as follows: first, the teams propose and send clinical cases; next, a committee evaluates, reviews and selects the most interesting ones; and, finally, responses will be given to these cases in each of the sessions, which are allocated specific times.

Participants obtain points both for the selection of their proposed cases and for the correct resolution of cases in the different sessions. These points count towards a final classification, in the classic style of a sports league.

Learning occurs both through proposing cases and through solving them, since once the time for the resolution of cases is over, the points obtained are revealed and more extended information is provided about the clinical case.

Success case. Results

Nestlé, Angelini, the Official Association of Pharmacists of Madrid and CINFA have opted for this system to provide gamified learning to their associated doctors based on the resolution of everyday cases. It is an opportunity to learn with other professionals, individually or in teams, thus promoting teamwork and cooperation between colleagues.

The work based on real cases, proposed by the participants themselves, makes the user learn by doing, which is of great practical value in the learning process.
